Paya is a traditional Indian food. It is loved by everyone and served on different occasions. Lahore, it is famous for breakfast with naan and change. Paya means ‘feet’. But Paya is the most popular dish in Pakistan but it is cooked especially in winter season in Pakistan. It is used in breakfast, lunch and dinner as well. And it is mostly cooked in winter.

So, It is is basically a time taking dish but served in front of guests.

Ingredients for the recipe

  • Beef Trotters: 12
  • Salt: as per taste
  • Ground Red Pepper: as per taste or 2 tablespoons
  • Turmeric Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Corainder Powder: 2 teaspoon
  • Onions: 2 chopped
  • Yogurt:1/2 cup
  • Oil:1/2 cup
  • White Cumin:1 teaspoon
  • All Spice Powder:1 teaspoon
  • Ginger:1 teaspoon (thin sliced)
  • Garlic:1 teaspoon
  • Water:as required

Recipe of beef paye

  1. Place a pan over the stove.
  2. Add trotters with all other spices and start cooking.
  3. When spices are roasted well and released oil and add water enough to soak the trotters.
  4. Let it cook overnight at low heat.
  5. When trotters get tenderized and then place in the dam for 10 minutes.
  6. Then in another pan, add some oil and garlic and Stir fry the garlic when its color changes brown then put zeera in it.
  7. Let’s cook it for 10 to 15 mins.
  8. Delicious trotters are ready to eat. Enjoy with hot tandoori naan.
